Instructor, Mechanical Engineering Technology
This position reports to the Dean, Technology & Liberal Studies.

Appointment Period:

January, 2021 - May, 2021; Nine month annually renewable appointment.

Responsibilities: The Instructor has the responsibility for developing curricula and teaching Mechanical (MET) and Manufacturing Engineering (FMS) Technology courses for the Integrated Systems Technology Department. The candidate is expected to work collaboratively and effectively with industry and fellow colleagues of related disciplines. Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Specific Duties:
  1. Teach up to eighteen (18) contact hours weekly in assigned day, evening, or weekend courses. Able to teach alternative delivery modalities including flipped classes, cohort and hybrid course content.
  2. Provide 10 office hours weekly for student advising, curriculum development, assessment activity, etc.
  3. Provide 12 hours weekly of college and community service (committees, meetings, professional development, etc...).
  4. Ability to learn new technologies and be a self-starter.
  5. Assist the Chair with recommendations for hardware/software purchases, instructional scheduling, use of facilities and other related contractual items.
  6. Assist with marketing projects and promotion of the College, TLS and individual departments or programs through a variety of activities.
  7. Instruct and facilitate classes and labs.
  8. Maintain a close working relationship with industry and businesses, maintain a high visibility in the community, promote the MET, FMS and other programing with the division, stay current with latest technologies and incorporate into curriculum.
  9. Assist with establishing goals, objectives and resources needed in the MET and FMS program.
  10. Develop professionally by continuing to seek and learn new knowledge and skills in the MET and other associated areas.
  11. Actively participate in divisional, college committee and related activities.
  12. Be committed to implementation of the philosophy and conceptual framework of the TLS Division and its programs.
  13. Perform other similar duties as required.


Major Work Qualifications: Requires Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering Technology or related field required or equivalent work experience. A Master’s degree is preferred. Working experience with Robotics, CNC AutoCAD, Inventor, Solid Works, and 3D printing technologies is preferred. In depth working knowledge of manufacturing and mechanical systems, demonstrated aptitude for teaching and training. One to three years combined industry or teaching experience required; should be customer and team oriented with ability to communicate and work with students, business and industry, faculty, staff and the general public.
