FAFSA Coach
This position reports to the Director of Financial Aid.

Appointment Period:

This part time, temporary position runs through August 31, 2021.

Responsibilities: The FAFSA Coach will provide proactive outreach to students participating in activities related to the FAFSA 21 grant from the Ohio Department of Higher Education. The incumbent will provide proactive counseling to students and families related to the FAFSA process in order to assist the student in the successful completion of the FAFSA. The primary responsibilities of this position include FAFSA counseling and proactive outreach to program participants. Major responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Specific Duties:
  1. Provide proactive outreach to students who participate in FAFSA 21 workshops.
  2. Provide counseling to students who have questions related to the FAFSA process for the purpose of assisting the student in successfully completing the FAFSA.
  3. Support the Rhodes FAFSA Hotline by providing virtual office hours so students may connect and seek advice and FAFSA counseling. In-person office hours may be required as conditions allow.
  4. Accurately track the services provided for grant reporting purposes.
  5. Perform other similar duties as assigned.


Major Work Qualifications: Associate’s degree required, Bachelor’s degree preferred. One to three years of financial aid experience desired. Knowledge of financial aid packaging and processing and use of SCT Banner Financial Aid module desired. Requires a high degree of customer service skill and knowledge of office practices and procedures, typing, operating PC based software applications (word processing, database, spreadsheet) as well as network operations (email, downloading/uploading, FTP); answering a multi-lined phone system; ability to deal with a variety of variables in somewhat unfamiliar context and be committed to the two-year college mission.

Salary: Commensurate with education and experience.
